Classic Black Windsor Chairs

Today's project is a pair of classic black Windsor chairs.

I picked this pair up at a yard sale a summer or two ago. Somehow they made it to my basement and I just pretty much ignored them. They are in really great condition and very comfortable. But I already paint a ton of chairs and the thought of more spindles just kind of made me cringe!

Well it's that time of year when I'm trying to wrap up most of my painting projects before winter, so I finally decided their day in the sun had come. And now that I have a paint sprayer, painting spindles is really a piece of cake!

If I'm going to spray, I always try to paint multiple projects in the same color at once.

Over the summer I thrilled to received a HomeRight Finish Max Fine Finish Sprayer . You can read my complete review here. Each time I use it, I'm impressed with how easy this sprayer is to use and with the smooth finish I achieve. I still enjoy the process of hand painting, but this is a great option to have. If you are thinking about a sprayer, definitely check it out!

I considered going with a bright happy color for fun, but ultimately decided on classic black. The color is Broadway from Behr and I always use the paint and primer in one formula.

I have to say, the finish is pretty much flawless!

I finished up with a light distressing and a coat of Minwax Wipe-On Poly in satin.

Pretty, classic and finally done!

I'm a firm believer that things are meant to be used and loved, not stored away somewhere gathering dust, especially if that somewhere is my basement. So hopefully these chairs will soon find their way to a happy new life!

Hi Sharon, great job as usual. Black is so pretty. And I've wondered if you ever used a sprayer, because the worst part of painting chairs for me are all the small in between places...I bet you have no problem selling these chairs, they're classic.

I can't believe it, Sharon! I have six of these exact same chairs (inherited from my mother) and I use them everyday. And I sprayed them black two years ago!

Don't know how much you respond to the comments as I am not much of a blogger. Point is:

These look very fine. Really look much better that the original chairs. Wish I could stumble upon a few that would be worth the effort myself. The price of used furniture is not to be believed.
