Dipped in blue!

This is another project from Megan. As a teacher, she doesn't have much time to paint during the school year. But in the summer, I tell her to feel free to paint anything in my garage. She's been wanting to paint a piece with dipped feet and thought this nice round coffee table would be a good candidate.

I was sure I had a before photo, but I must have missed this one.

But just like everything else in my garage, this one started out brown. Cute shape, great condition, just really boring brown.

Megan painted the entire piece with two coats of Behr's paint and primer in one in Silky White. A light sanding and a quick wipe-down made the prep really easy. I am definitely a fan of that paint!

Then Megan taped off the feet and used a really pretty shade called  Mariner Blue from the Martha Stewart line, but again mixed in the Behr paint and primer in one.

Now we weren't really intending to do a tape test, but that's pretty much what happened. On the first try, Megan used Frogtape and the paint bled - not pretty. On the second try, she used the Scotch Blue Painter's Tape and the line was crisp and clean - much better.
Looks like it was blue over green on this one!

Megan liked the clean modern lines, so no distressing on this one.

She finished up with two coats of wipe-on poly.

And there you have it, little feet dipped in blue for fun.

Pretty darn cute, don't you think?

I'll be back tomorrow with preview photos of our summer tag sale. Yes, it's this week! Details are on the sidebar.
