My daughter Megan visited recently and brought along these sweet felt rosette pins for our spring sale.
Don't you love the soft pretty colors?
Megan found a beautiful selection of wool blend felt in 70 yummy colors on etsy at Benzie Bazaar. Just think of all the fun things you could make!
Not only did I want to wear these pins, I wanted to learn how to make them too, so Megan gave me a quick lesson.
Each rosette is made from two circles of felt. Megan suggested making a template so that each rosette would be similar in size. One circle should be slightly larger than the other. Juice glasses from your kitchen work perfectly. In this case, the larger circle was just under three inches.
After you have two circles of felt, make three cuts in each circle. Cut almost to the center, but not quite. The cuts should be fairly evenly spaced, but you do not have to be perfectly precise here.
Each circle should end up looking something like this.
Now take your scissors and round off the corners of each little section. These will be your rose petals.
Now you are ready to glue and roll your roses.
After putting a dab of hot glue close to the center of the what appears to be your smallest petal, just roll the petal together
Now put glue on the second petal. A little U-shape works well.
And wrap it around the first petal.
Then repeat by wrapping the third petal around the second one.
Now take your second piece of felt and one-by-one wrap each petal around your little rosette.
one ...
two ...
three ...
And there you have it, a perfect little rose. You could add a third piece of felt if you wanted bigger, fuller roses for a different project. But these little rosettes are just right for a pin. This is my collection of rosettes in shades of blue. You might have heard that I love blue!
The next step is to find a pleasing arrangement and glue the rosettes to a scrap piece of felt. Be sure to put a dab of glue between each little rosette too, just to hold it all together.
Then flip it over, trim around the edges and glue on a pin.
And here is my finished pin. Once you get rolling, this is a really quick and easy project. You could make a whole batch of pins while you watch your favorite TV show.
So cute on a spring jacket.
Or on a little cardigan sweater.
I think my pin fits right in with Megan's collection. Just a perfect little gift idea! The possibilities are endless. As Megan say, "You just start rolling and they end up being cute!"
Wishing all the moms out there a lovely Mother's Day!

I just started a linky party this past Tuesday. It was a great success with over 50 link ups! I would love it if you would participate tomorrow! It's called $10 Tuesdays and it's for things that cost less than $10 and take 20-30 mins (ish) to complete. I love inexpensive and quick projects and I'm guessing others will too ;) Thanks so much for considering.

Hi there, found you and following via the Creative Bloggers hop. Love the little roses, I have so many homemade brooches of one sort or another, but they really are the perfect project! I linked up some of my greetings cards, but I mainly blog about thrifty finds, with a bit of craft and vintage inspired ramblings...
