New Friends, Old Friends and a Few Good Windows

I'm still pretty new to the blog world, but I think I'm catching on pretty quick. I really got hooked on wedding blogs while helping my daughter Megan plan her wedding last year. The only other blog I was really following at the time was Cassie's over at Primitive & Proper. Before she even started the blog, I would browse her website for ideas and inspiration. Her furniture is just beautiful! As for the blog, it took me a while to even figure out what it meant to be a follower. But what I did realize immediately is that Cassie is not only super talented, but a lovely girl. I'm sure you've noticed that she writes the sweetest comments, not only here, but all over the blog world. She is always so positive and encouraging. And she is full of ideas and inspiration. I've met Cassie and she is the real deal!

Last week, Cassie did a post on some old windows that she picked up at a sale. She turned them into beautiful frames for family photos. They turned out great! I love the combination of old and new. She mentioned that old windows are a dime a dozen. That was funny to me at the time because I've been on the lookout for old windows and haven't seen any in some time.

Well, as you can probably guess, this weekend I found some great old windows at a yard sale. You always know it's going to be good when you pull up and there is a barn involved! I found a few other goodies too, but was really excited about the windows. All I could think of was, can't wait to tell Cassie. So Cassie, this post is for you! I think you must have sent some good energy my way.

Some of the windows have two panes, some have six. I love the colors and the old hardware.

And I even got a good deal. The sticker said make an offer. I ended up with six windows for $3.00. I know you can do the math, but that's just 50 cents a window. And yes, I have plans for them.
And it turns out that the lovely lady at the yard sale was one of my son Ryan's 8th grade teachers, way back when. Nice to see you again Judy!

So, you just never know what you might find out there, who you might meet or where inspiration will come from. ... Thanks Cassie!

first of all, sharon, if you could see me now, i am totally blushing!!! you are so sweet and this post is just about the kindes you could have done for me. i am so glad that you decided to go for it with the blog and furniture.... you are doing a great job already! secondly, i had a huge window that was red like the ones you got and it had 6 panes of glass in it. it was actually the firs one i used as a picture frame and i framed pics of my kids and gave it to my parents as a gift. the black and white pictures looked amazing with the red paint of the frame, so those red ones would be great for something like that! i also love miss mustard seed's cupcakes window sign she made. such a bargain you got! (ok, now i sound like yoda...). anyhow, thank you so much for your kind words. i am so glad we are more connected now and get to share ideas easily! :)

I love old chippy windows. I'm not having the best luck finding them right now, but then again I haven't been looking lately ;-D. Thanks for sharing.

A yard sale that involves a barn! Man, I am jealous. It just doesn't pay to go on vacation and be out of the "hunting loop". You haven't ever bought windows so this was a real find for you! Can't wait to see how they turn out.
