Megan's Holiday House Tour

Today I'm excited to share a little Christmas from Megan & Liam's cute little apartment. The holiday season has always meant long-distance travel for this young couple, but now they are back in the area of both families and they can finally have a little Christmas of their very own.

Megan likes bright and happy colors, a fun mix of vintage and modern and lots of personal touches with special meaning. And as you'll see, Megan is thrifty too. You can create an amazing space on a budget!

Liam pretty much likes whatever Megan likes, as long as it doesn't get too girly.

I love their dining room! It is bright and sunny all day long.

This sweet hutch took up home at Elizabeth & Co. while the couple lived in Kentucky for a year. People kept wanting to buy it, but it was not for sale. Now Megan is excited to have it back again. It's the perfect combination of functional storage and a fun decorating opportunity.

The sheet music garlands are a fun element repeated throughout the apartment.

The lace covered votives were used at their wedding reception. We made them with lace from my wedding dress. I think the wedding really sparked our interest in serious crafting. Actually, it also helped us discover the blog world too!

Vintage elements work beautifully mixed with new items.

I made the stockings for our holiday open house and as gifts for friends. We featured one on the vintage-inspired wreath we donated to our local Arts Council Auction.

The chalkboard is from their wedding too and it still has the original menu.

We love these Anthropologie-inspired snow globes. And they were so much fun to make!

Vintage ornaments and bulbs add sparkle everywhere.

And here is the tutorial for Megan's wreath made from vintage ornaments.

You could achieve a similar look with new ornaments. You just might want to be checking out the post-Christmas sales next week. Or start collecting vintage ornaments now and you'll be ready to make your own wreath by next Christmas.

Megan & Liam are excited to have their very first Christmas tree. Liam picked out the red and white lights at Target and that was the start of the red and white color theme. It's totally adorable from big red bow on the top to red plaid flannel blanket on the bottom!

And you already know I'm in love with this media cabinet. It's my favorite project so far. We turned a big, brown mid-century triple dresser into a sleek, modern and very functional new piece. It was our Thanksgiving weekend project. You can read all about this transformation here.

Not only does it look great, but it really works beautifully too!

Just perfect! And how much fun is it to be able to say, "We made that!"

Megan & Liam are avid readers and this was one of my favorite barn sale finds ever!

The prints over the media cabinet are posters from their favorite bands.

Don't you love this cozy little reading corner?

Megan & Liam are hoping that Santa has a new camera in his bag of goodies this year. They plan to spend a day in Baltimore taking photos of interesting architectural elements and add some new prints to this corner.

You know how I love dressers. I think they are absolutely the most versatile pieces of furniture you can own. This one was my first experiment with homemade chalk paint. It worked beautifully! You will definitely be seeing more homemade chalk paint on my projects in the new year. You can find the recipe here.

Yes, the keys are from the wedding too and they always dangle from a piece of furniture wherever Megan & Liam call home.

We made the hurricanes from thrift store finds!

This was a clever idea that Megan found on Pinterest. The maps represent the locations of where Megan & Liam met, got married and went on their honeymoon. In the original inspiration photo, the maps were heart-shaped. Liam thought that was a little girly, but he loved Megan adaptation ~ sweet and romantic!

Megan & Liam are using one bedroom for an office. Megan painted her desk with Paris Grey and Old White chalk paint. It's a beauty! We just found the chair, so that's next on the list for painting. And now Megan is on the lookout for the perfect grey and yellow print fabric for the seat and for curtains.

The bookcase is a new addition. These two have tons of books!

Their bedroom is soft and serene in yellow and green, with just a touch of pink. Liam is Ok with that.

I painted two similar modern end tables in the same shade of green last summer and Megan paired them as nightstands.

And this chest is another favorite. It's a gorgeous shade of milk paint. I'll have a full post on this one in the new year. It holds a sweet and simple touch of Christmas with milk glass and a homemade chalkboard.

So there you have it ~ a sweet and comfortable apartment filled with tons of charm from homemade and personal touches for one very special couple! ... Thanks so much for sharing your home with us Megan & Liam. Merry Christmas!

And here's a fun bit of trivia. When they went around the corner to their local firehouse to pick out a Christmas tree, Megan & Liam found out that their apartment complex was once home to an up-and-coming news anchor in Baltimore named Oprah Winfrey!
