Some Favorite Colors

In the last few posts, I've shared some thoughts from the "color experts" about the predicted color trends for 2011. I guess time will tell which colors really grow on us and which ones get lost in the shuffle.

I love trying new colors. Isn't it fun to crack open a fresh can of paint? But some colors are so successful, you know you'll use them again. Here are a few of my favorites.

My laundry room is one of my absolute favorite colors. It's a Duron paint color (available at Sherwin Williams) called Grazing Field. It has some punch, but is not overwhelming. And it contrasts so nicely with white. It feels very fresh. I used it in both my laundry room and my powder room.

And I even tried it on this cottage dresser and loved the result, although it looks much lighter out in the sunshine.

But my favorite colors are definitely shades of blue. My front door and shutters are painted in Bluecoat by Duron. I love the way this blue looks next to the crisp white trim (Duron's Crystal Ball) and the red brick. In the summer, it looks very patriotic.

My master bathroom is Duron's Still Creek. This is definitely a shade I will repeat in my next bathroom remodel. Yes, there is still one more to go!

I don't use spray paint very often, but last summer I was making chalkboards with old picture frames and found this wonderful shade of blue. I just had to try it on a piece of furniture. It's Rustoleum Painter's Touch in Slate Blue.

Grays are really popular right now. I recently painted a dresser and nightstand in Sherwin William's Network Gray. It's hard to find a true gray, but I really like this one. It may look a little purple in the photos, but definitely not in person.

And a nice pale gray is Duron's Stonewall that worked nicely on this table..

I also liked Winter Gray in Rustoleoum Painter's Touch. This piece was finished with a black glaze.

And this soft pretty Ballet Slipper Pink will never go out of style. It's from Martha Stewart at Home Depot. And you just can't beat an 8 ounce bottle for under $3.00. What a great way to try new colors!

I'll definitely be using these colors again!
How about you?
Are you sticking with some old favorites or searching for a new color in 2011?

Sharon~ That green is gor-ge-ous! I love it! WOW...I have that same color Still Creek in our bedroom/master bathroom. I love it because it is somewhere between a taupe and a grey depending on what you put with it...and it matches a "shade" of our carpet.

I am going to pick up some of the Ballet Pink for my grandkids bedroom. I have a couple of things I need to paint in there and this would be perfect!

Have a great weekend-Hugs- Diana

Love the blues and greens. I tend to like the lighter version of blues, greens, aquas and pinks...not necessarily pastel, just lighter hues.

Love that green you used...

I am contemplating camping out in your laundry room... has the feel of a bed & breakfast. Guaranteed I'd never get a load of wash done in that room... I'd just want to curl up in there with a book!

Sharon,
I love all the colors you choose for your pieces! Never thought I'd be a fan of gray, but I'm loving it right now! That's my prediction for the new popular color! :) Have a really great weekend!

Love all of those colors. The hardest part of any remodel is picking out colors in my opinion. You've done a great job. Mind if I ask about your master bath counter top? I'm in the process of getting a new one and you have the exact color I am looking for.
Thanks

Love the green you have used in your laundry room. I'm thinking I might need to try some of it in my redo!! I was watching The Nate Show today where he talked about trends for 2011 and he unveiled the new color for 2011 as being "rust". hmmmm

I have always loved green. It looks fresh, and always is uplifting no matter what the weather is like outside. Green on the walls is like a sunny day. Your green is beautiful and I love the window fabric too. Happy Pink Saturday, Char

I love that green color! So energizing for a laundry room. Makes you want to do laundry. Sort of :) I will have to try a blue on my door this spring. I have the red brick too and was thinking of a navy shade maybe a bit lighter.

Oh, my...all your colors are wonderful. And, what a good painter you are. I love each and every one of the little tables and chests you are showing.
I got on the BLACK BANDWAGON a few yrs back and painted a lot of my pieces black. Now, I am thinking of changing a few to other colors. I tend to stay with white and cream walls, picking up colors in other places.
Thanks for sharing all of these with us.

Love your painted pieces, and the way you have slightly distressed that dresser. I am loving gray these days! See my post about the colors for our new house. And, my office is almost the same green you have used, but I chose Ben Moore Pale Avacado.
This Paint Party was a fun idea, no?

Hi Sharon-

You are an amazing furniture transformer. Oh my - all of your pieces are just beautiful - you have the touch for sure. I had to laugh at the chest of drawers - I have one that looks exactly like it. It came from Ed's grandparents house on Fitzhugh. Is yours from Kevin's family? Just wondering. :) I love the Ballet Pink color - I want to paint a little chest of drawers - this looks like the perfect color.
Thanks for linking up to the party and showing us your style.
My best- Diane

Thanks for sharing this! I was looking for a cheerful, non-sage, non-obnoxious green for my kids' play room. I just went and got a $5 sample of Grazing Field this afternoon, and I'm eager to put some up and see what I think! I appreciate your input!

I like blue a lot to. Blue is just such a happy cute color. It's not as risky as orange or purple but still has a nice style to it.
