Life Is Good Award

My friend Cassie over at Primitive & Proper passed along this Life Is Good Award to me. Cassie is a sweet and super-talented girl who does amazing things with furniture and paint! I actually met Cassie shortly before I started Elizabeth & Co. She has been encouraging me every step of the way, with both my furniture projects and with the writing of this little blog.

So, thank you Cassie!

And by the way, I love the concept of a Life Is Good Award.

My life is most definitely good!

And I am definitely a glass is half full kind of girl.

So, now I need to answer a few questions.

1. If you blog anonymously, are you happy doing it that way? If you are not anonymous, do you wish you had started out that way so that could now be anonymous?

Well, I started writing this past spring, about the same time I teamed up with my friends Susan and Karla to form Elizabeth & Co. I figured that if we were going on a little adventure, I may as well document it! We girls love all things vintage and the concept of the occasional tag sale. We've had one sale so far and it was a blast, so there will be more! And we can hardly be anonymous if we want people to come to our sales. Since I really enjoy painting and transforming furniture finds, that's what I write about the most. I've tried to get the girls to take before and after pictures too, but I've had little success so far. That's a hint girls! And I've always felt strongly about creating a warm and nurturing home environment, so I hope that comes through in my writing as well. I think my tag line says it best. Take a deep breath, you're home! That's exactly how I want people to feel when they walk through my door or visit my blog



2. Describe one incident that describes your stubborn inner side.

I don't actually think I am stubborn. I doubled checked with my husband, just to be sure, and he agrees. For the most part, I am a pretty relaxed and easy-going person. I try to see both sides of a situation and I hope I give in when I know I am wrong. But on the flip side, I will fight for what I know is right.



3. What do you see when you really look at yourself in the mirror?

Literally or figuratively? Either way, I think it depends a bit on the day.



4. What is your favorite summer cold drink?

A big tall glass of fresh-squeezed lemonade.



5. When you really take time for yourself, what do you do?


I try to make time to get to the gym regularly. I take classes to keep myself on a regular schedule. I also love to curl up with a good book (or a decorating magazine) in my favorite comfy chair. I think time spent with girlfriends is important too. And yes, I like to shop!



6. Is there something you still want to accomplish in your life?


I'm actually pretty content with my life, but I'm always looking forward to learning new things and having new adventures. I'm really enjoying collaborating with my girls at Elizabeth & Co. and we are all looking forward to seeing where that takes us.



7. When you attended school, were you the class clown, the overachiever, the shy one or were you always ditching?


I was probably a little quiet, but not shy. I worked hard in school and definitely never ditched.
It was probably the Catholic school girl in me, but I would have been so worried about getting in trouble, that I would not have enjoyed the day off at all.

8. If you close your eyes and visualize a poignant moment in your life, what do you see?

Well, I just don't think it gets any more poignant than having a child.



9. Is it easy to share your true self in your blog or are you more comfortable writing posts about other people and events?

I'm reading quite a few blogs right now and the ones I enjoy the most are the ones that I feel a real connection with the author. I think letting your true self show through is an important part of making that connection. That does not necessarily mean sharing every personal detail about your life, just keeping it honest and real. And that's what I try to do in my writing. I post when I have something to share. If you feel a connection, I hope you stop by from time-to-time.


10. If you had a choice to sit down and read or talk on the phone, which would you do?

I enjoy catching up with friends on the phone now and then. But I really love to read. I'm in a book club and we just read our 100th book together! Blogging and painting are definitely taking more of my time right now, so I'm not reading as much as I would like. I'm still working on finding that balance of fitting everything into my life.
