Blue and Brown

My friend Cindy over at Cottage Instincts is having a party! She sent out invites several weeks ago. Isn't this a cute little button?

I was so busy getting ready for our Tag Sale, and then recovering from our Tag Sale, that I let it slip my mind. Or maybe I'm just a procrastinator. Either way, the party started today and I am not ready! And I totally love blue and brown!!!

First of all, I'm typing on a brown computer, not just because it came in brown. I ordered the brown one.

And it goes in my cute little blue and brown market bag Handmade by Molly.

Now that fall is here, you will frequently see me in one of my favorite outfit combinations - a brown sweater (I have a bunch), white t-shirt, jeans (blue of course) and my toasty warm, chocolate brown Uggs.

I recently found a really pretty blue and brown tablecloth and made curtains and a bulletin board for out little Tag Sale.

And I think I've already admitted to a slight obsession with Hershey Kisses. Once you get past the silver wrapper, they are yummy brown and just melt in your mouth!

And if that does not convince you that I like blue and brown, my blog design is blue and brown for goodness sake. ... So, how is it that I do not have a post ready for the party?

Seriously, my favorite blue and brown room is my master bathroom. The room itself almost happened by accident. We were making some changes to the exterior of our house. I really wanted a big front porch and a laundry room. In the process, I was lucky enough to also get a nice big foyer on the first floor and this beautiful new bathroom on the second floor. The original bath was about the size of a powder room. This one has a shower for two, a nice deep whirlpool tub (that was on my husband's wish list) and a double vanity. It is open and bright and has tons of storage.

I knew I wanted a piece of free standing furniture in the room. My builder kept trying to talk me into more built-in cabinets, but I wouldn't budge. I love this hutch! I wish I could say I painted it myself. But it came from a local shop. They were using it for display purposes and it was not for sale. I asked (begged) to buy it so many times, they finally gave in. I paid way too much for it, but I just knew it was meant to be in my bathroom. It is both functional and pretty!

I love the wavy glass in the doors.

And the two-tone paint technique with just the right amount of distressing.

I think it gives the whole room a sense of age and contrasts nicely with all the shiny newness of the room

I had a whole collection of pages torn from magazines showing checkerboard floors. I could finally have my own checkerboard floor in this room.

And I think you already know how I feel about beadboard. And this is the real deal, not thin sheets, but indvidual boards!

The foyer below also has a circle window like this one.

I love my blue and brown bathroom! It makes starting the day a whole lot easier and prettier!

Now, we better hurry over to Cottage Instincts. The party has already started!

And then be sure to stop by and see Jennifer Rizzo. She's hosting a Hook Up Your Hutch Party!

Oh I love the hutch. You are so lucky to have the room for one. I'm a fan of the blue and brown as well. And of bead board. I just used it in our new bath, the panels though. Love your bath!

It really is the best bathroom ever! I was just trying to picture the "before" bathroom and I can't even do it. I do remember it was small, not even room for a tub, right?? I think if you showed a before and after everyone would be amazed.

All my favorite elements of blue and brown in your bathroom. The hutch is perfection. And the hershey kisses? If they'd just make blue foil I'd be in heaven!

Thanks for sharing your blue and browns with the party!

Oh, I love blue and brown together too! I was going to do my bedroom in b/b but my bedroom told me otherwise. Now it is green and brown. I insisted on keeping the brown.....
