Spring Wreaths

Happy First Day of Spring!

If you've been here before, you know that means a fresh new batch of wreaths!

I may have mentioned (more than a few times) that I love making wreaths!

If you're local, these wreaths (and lots more) will be available at our spring tag sale next week! You can find all the details about our tag sale on the sidebar and I'll have a preview post coming up in a few days.

And even if you're long-distance, an Elizabeth & Co. wreath could still find it's way to your front door. I am super excited about that. Details coming soon!

Mason Jar Wall Vases

Mason jars, rustic wood and daffodils ... are you sensing a theme here?

Last week I shared my mason jar crates.

Well I had a free Sunday afternoon and a willing helper, so I made these mason jar wall vases on the same day. And they were just as easy!

The only thing I needed to purchase for this project was a pack of stainless steel clamps. You can find them in the plumbing department of your local hardware/home improvement store. And this pack of 6 was only $5 plus change.

The first thing I did was position the clamps on the jars. I liked them with the clamps front and center.

Then I turned the jars around and marked the center on the back side.

After removing the clamp, I extended the line to the inside.

Then my handy helper made holes for the screws that would attach the jars to the blocks of wood.

We used wood we had in the garage and cut it in 12"sections, but the size doesn't really matter all that much. You could use larger or smaller mason jars and adjust the size of the wood to your liking. I used some bright spring colors (leftover paint of course), distressed the wood and finished with a coat of wipe-on poly. The bands were screwed into the wood first, then tightened around the jars.

We positioned the bands so that the bottom of the jar was level with the bottom of the wood. That allows the vases to sit on a flat surface without tipping over.

But we also added saw tooth hangers on the back so that they can hang on a wall.

And there you have it, super cute mason jar wall vases!

I hope the daffodils make you feel like spring!

Mason Jar Crates

Daffodils are a sure sign of spring, even if there is still snow on the ground!

I especially love daffodils in mason jars.
And I decided I needed a few cute crates to add a little rustic charm!

I already had a huge collection of mason jars and plenty of scrap wood in the garage, so this was a pretty quick and easy project. The first step was to line up five mason jars and take a rough measurement so that the jars would fit comfortably inside the crate. The bottom and side boards were measured first. Mine were 17" long and 3 1/2" wide.

Then I just capped the ends. Simple nails put it all together. My completed crate measures 18 1/2" long and 5" wide, but you could make any size you like.

I painted my crates, distressed the edges and finished with a two coats of wipe-on poly. I chose poly over wax in this case  because I'd be adding jars of water and drips are inevitable.

Pretty cute, right?
And perfect for a little farmhouse style!

These daffodils are from the grocery store. But soon enough I'll be picking daffodils from the garden. I can hardly wait!

Hang in there, just one week until spring!
