Elsa's Shabby Chic Dresser

This is Elsa's dresser. Her mom suggested a bright color, but Elsa knew exactly what she wanted - a bright white shabby chic dresser.

Elsa's mom picked this one out of my garage stash. Her top priority was lots of storage.

She wasn't a fan of the brass pulls, but that was an easy fix.

This was another sunroom painting project.

I'm actually getting the hang of painting in the house this winter.  I even have a system - start one or two new pieces each Monday, work on them during the week, then get them moved out of the sunroom by the weekend. It's working for me and winter can't last forever, right?

For Elsa's shabby chic look, I used Behr Premium Plus Ultra in Silky White, then mixed it up with the homemade chalk paint recipe.

The brass pulls were replaced with pretty clear glass scallop crackle knobs from Hobby Lobby - so feminine.

I distressed the edges and finished up with a coat of Fiddes & Sons clear wax.

Simple and sweet with a curvy little feet.

I think Elsa was right - bright white shabby chic was the perfect choice for this dresser! It also provides the storage that mom requested and it's a classic piece that will work for Elsa for a long time to come!

And where does completed furniture go when it leaves the sunroom?
It gets moved to the foyer of course!

What can I say, it's winter and we're playing musical furniture!

hahaha Sharon! I'm so glad you've settled into a routine for the winter shuffle! :)

Loving the simplicity of this piece, that 'round these parts we call a Chest of Drawers, unless you're from the country, then you call them chester drawers. lol

anyhow, whatever we call it, it sure is beautiful and feminine with it's new transformation. great job!

It's Lovely, Sharon. The picture of your foyer makes me laugh. My dining room is the revolving furniture home...I may never get a table of my own in there!

Love a good white dresser and I love the minimal distressing on it. I almost didn't think you had distressed it at all. always done well!

I love it! Musical furniture!!
The makeover is beautiful and the new knobs take it over the top. I'm sure mom and daughter were thrilled.

The other day I read Addicted 2 Decorating's assessment of chalk paint and wearability. Her experience with is is limited, but got me thinking. Since you're an expert in this...maybe you could write a post about it...I'm sure others might wonder too.

I'd love for you to share your makeover at Project Inspire{d}, Sharon. :)

How resourceful. I love that you have worked out a system for painting indoors. Let's hope winter doesn't last forever. The dresser looks beautiful. I love the knobs and the distressed edges. I am sure it will be loved for years to come...and if it never gets picked up, it looks great in the foyer too :)

HI Sharon, I'm having fun catching up with your projects, we finally got our internet hooked up and it's so nice to be back in blogland. I'm always amazed at the selection of cute (and affortable) knobs at Hobby Lobby. I actually found one near our new place. I'm finding my way with the help of my IPhone and it makes me wonder what did we do before all this technology? hahaha I'm glad to see you've got such a good system going to keep up your painting. I still have to get some more things out of boxes before I tackle any painting. :(
