Look what I found at Elizabeth & Co.!

I often talk about how much we love our customers! They are the most loyal, supportive and enthusiastic group of people ever. And we always love to hear that something they found at Elizabeth & Co. makes them happy!

This little round accent table came from the side of the road, literally! I actually drove right past it on my way home one night. But luckily I saw my friend Renae walking her dog right around the corner. The very first thing she said to me was, "Did you see it?" "See what?" "The furniture up the street." I quickly made a U-turn and Renae helped me load it all up! My husband pulled up just as we were finishing. "So what are you girls up to?" he asked, knowing exactly what we were up to!

And for those of you who have asked, it's not like we find free furniture on the side of the road everyday. But we do live in a community with designated bulk trash pick up days, so sometimes we just get lucky!

The funny thing about this little table was that someone decided it needed to be a little taller.

Well that's one way to do it!

I had a feeling this one was going to bleed through, so I primed it with my new HomeRight Finish Max Fine Finish Sprayer. You can check out my review here.

The paint is a pretty blue gray - a mix of leftover paint.

I know skipping the primer step is all the rage now, but I like the way the white shows through when you distress a primed piece.

Before painting, I removed the extra blocks of wood and used wood filler to close the holes - good as new!

And I added a little white glaze to the top for a softer look and finished up with a coat of wipe on poly.

This one got snatched right up at our summer tag sale. And a few days later I received a sweet note from Amanda, along with a few photos. This was Amanda's first visit to one of our tag sales and she was thrilled to find the perfect accent table for between her fireplace and chair ...

and a little pillar for a bird cage she already had. Little unexpected finds that make Amanda smile. And that makes us smile too!

If you have something from Elizabeth & Co. in your home and you'd like to share, please send me a picture!

And I just updated the sidebar with information about our fall sale. It will be here before you know it!

That is so fun that you get to see pics of what customers do with your creations!

Did you snag that free dresser too?

Isn't that nice? To receive a photo showing what someone decided to do with the furniture piece they bought from you. I would love that. And I'm so glad to see the photo of the furniture on the side of the street otherwise I wouldn't believe it haha. Why can't I ever stumble on adorable little tables like that? I do agree about the white paint underneath the final coat too. And I didn't realize you use poly on top, so do I.

Your rescue of that little ugly duckling table resulted in an gorgeous blue swan table. Did you pick up the drawers too? I've been hoping I'll stumble upon some drawers to transform into under-the-bed storage.

I'm guessing that someone had a table cloth on that table and the round cloth was too long. So, they added some height with those wood blocks. No one would see them under the cloth. Using table cloths on a round accent table was very popular in the 7o's and 80's.

I have yet to find anything not completely destroyed by the side of the road, but if I ever do hope it looks like that table! Pretty color and a pretty table!

I really like how the round table turned out and I am glad you "found" it there before it was ruined for life. Great save! :-)

Great finds and the table is a lovely colour. I enjoy seeing the pieces in their new homes too. We had big trash day last week but we didn't find anything this time (more items at the beginning of the season.) While we were up north on vacation, however, my sil mentioned Friday night at 10 pm that it was special items weekend where once a year people set out all kinds of items at the curb (no garbage.) She forgot to tell us earlier! My 14 year old had us up at 7 am and while most of the larger items were gone we did find a cool mirror.

It looks gorgeous! That is so funny about the heels on the table legs! You are so lucky you live in a city that has bulk trash pick up. My friend and I were online for some time today searching for cities in our area that have this. No luck!

Love it Sharon - what a gorgeous makeover!!!
They must have something covering that table so the legs wouldn't show,
I'm HOPING lol - how ugly!!!
They didn't even stain it to try to match it LMHO - at first I thought
" well look at that - Sharon's brilliant to come up with that idea "
I thought you had it standing on blocks to PAINT IT LOL
Love hearing back from customers too!
Hugs,
Suzan

I'm not even surprised anymore that you find fabulous stuff on the side of the road, and I'm always so happy when you do. No one nicer and more deserving should find it! I'm so glad you showed the aged imperfections of this wonderful table because I've been working on a piece myself that at one point I thought was too ragged to spend my time on. I'm so glad I persevered because it's turning out well, and I feel like I've given new life to a piece that one day someone may still treasure, as your table is now being treasured. Sappy, I know, but there's just something about old furniture that gets to you...

That little table looks great. Can you tell me what type of rub on poly you use please. I've been wanting to try it but am not sure what to use for painted furniture.
