The Making of a Decorator Show House

Something very exciting is in the works here at Elizabeth & Co. We girls are participating in a decorator show house! You know how we love moving furniture around right? Well just look at us now!

This is the ultimate before and even we don't know exactly how the after will turn out!

A church in our community has invited local decorators to decorate rooms in their parsonage, which will be open to the public for tours throughout the month of October (details are on the sidebar). We got the invite on Wednesday evening and by Saturday we were already moving furniture into the house. One pickup truck and three SUV's full of furniture and we were on our way. Come on in and take a peek!

This is what a show house looks like before the decorators arrive!

Let's start in the living room.

All the rooms are huge, with high ceilings and the most gorgeous wide planked floors. There are fireplaces everywhere. And the dining room just got all new molding.

The kichen has has some updates over the years.

There is a butler's pantry.

And just out the back door there is a lovely side porch

Just look at those porches and balconies!

This is the sunporch on the second floor.  I just love this room - the windows, the floors, oh my! I had this room decorated in my head the moment I saw it!

There are also three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the second floor.

 Check out that bathtub!

Are the colors a little bright for you?

No worries, the decorators are all bringing in professional painters and carpenters.

This room will be decorated as a nursery and the theme is sailboats.

The stairs are so amazing and each floor has a landing the size of a small room.

This is the master bedroom.

Now are you wondering which room we're decorating?

Keep going, all the way to the third floor!

Thank goodness for strong and helpful husbands! This is the first bedroom at the top of the stairs and it's our room.

This level of the home would have originally been the servant's quarters - one room for men, one for women and a sitting area on the landing.

Here's the second bedroom on the third floor.

And guess what, this is our room too!
Yes, we are decorating both bedrooms on the third floor!

I just love the view down the stairs.

You can see all the way down to the first floor!

Now if you're a regular here, you know that we are not professional decorators. But we love all things vintage and that includes old houses. This one is amazing and we'll do our best to do it justice.

Susan is giving me that look. What the heck have we gotten ourselves into?

Stay tuned, this is going to be interesting!

Oh- I know you girls are gonna do that house proud! I can just picture how beautiful those rooms are going to be. Have fun- can't wait to see the pics.

On another note- I was sorry to see Penn State's loss in their first game. I would have liked to see a win just to bolster the spirits that have taken such a beating in the last year. Blessings- xo Diana
