White Dressers

I love white dressers. I don't actually use white paint all that often. I'm a girl who likes color. But a white dresser is probably the most versatile piece of furniture you can own. This one came from a yard sale. It was already white, but dirty and chippy. And I don't mean chippy in a good way. I'm still trying to explain the difference between good chippy and bad chippy to my husband.

I had a completely different color picked out for this piece, but it the end, I decided she just needed to be white. So after a light sanding and priming, I went with two coats of Sherwin Williams Dover White (their most popular shade of white).

I found these knobs at Marshalls and decided they were just the pop of color she needed.

Now she's distressed and chippy in a good way.

I think white was a good decision on this one.

I fnished her just in time for our tag sale and she sold quickly. I was a little sad to see her go.

But I have several white dressers in my life. I have one in my dining room. And I used one in each bedroom of our get-away home. These rooms are not complete just yet, but a white dresser is a great starting point for any room. I think each one has it own charm.

Dressers are my favorite pieces of furniture to use in decorating and also my favorite pieces to paint. You'll see lots of color here, but a classic white dresser is always a good thing!

Love your white dressers! I have my "baby" dressers coated with layers and layers of white. GOOD chippy! I use them in my office to store supplies. I'm thinking of just distressing a little more and adding fun knobs. Love the ones from Marshalls!!!

That looked great with those knobs. You're right on just the right amount of color. I'm thinking our bedroom dresser should be going white soon!

I love that little white dresser and those aqua/turqoise knobs! I'm sure it was snapped up in your sale in no time flat! The turned/carved corners on that dresser are cute and unusual... at least to me. I don't think I've every seen a dresser quite like that.

The little dresser between the beds makes a fantasic nightstand and dresser too.

I'm still trying to decide if I should distress my newly painted white dining room table.... the distressing would certainly help as it gets a little banged up in daily wear and tear. Since it's a dining room table I plan to put a clear coat on top of the paint but have been holding off while I decide.... I like it on your dresser so I may just have to go that way afterall.

How wonderful! I'm getting ready to take the plunge and paint our inherited dressers white. I think they will be just the right touch for our bedroom, which is currently dark and blah.

Your refinished "good" chippy dresser looks great. I like your other white dresser uses, too, you're really good at distressing them.

Love your yard sale white dresser. I do a lot of white dresser revamps and this one caught my eye, great lines and shape. I passed on the blue Marshall knobs last month while visiting Florida .... Now I know I shouldn't have.

I love your dresser re-do ... adorable! So, do you just have tag sales out on your porch then with all of your neat creations? I've been planning on setting up a shop one of these days when my kids are moved out...but never really thought about just doing sales from my own porch. :)

What a great piece, Sharon! I don't have a link up this week, but I am working on a rescued dresser that I'm going to be painting Heirloom White. I agree that they are very versatile when white and can work in any room.

Nice whites with some dashes of color. The legs on the first one are similar to legs on a table from way back that I took apart and use as desks. (Too big for the kitchen space it was in). Hmmm... maybe I should paint the "new" "old" table white after all...I digress. Enjoyed your post! Thanks, Jenn

Love it! I am actually going to start a project to distress and paint my furniture white. What is the best tool to use to make the edges look distressed around each drawer? Its my first dresser make over and want to prove to my fiance that my project turned out just like I said!
Thanks.
I have used just a folded sheet of sand paper and did it with my hand but wasnt sure if there was a special sanding tool for the trick
