Copy Me! Funky Junk Style

So, I'm sure you've heard the news, Donna over at Funky Junk Interiors has teamed up with Miss Mustard Seed and presented us all with a challenge called Copy Me! Well now, that really is a challenge. Because one thing I know for sure is that Donna is an original, one-of-a-kind, real deal girl!

I've been following Donna for awhile now. She is a constant source of inspiration. Her projects are amazing. I just love her salvaged junk style. The more rusty and chippy, the better! (I hope her tetanus shot is up-to-date!)

So for this challenge, I decided to decorate my fireplace in Donna's fabulous funky junk style!

Donna, you will be happy to know that I actually picked up this gate from a trash pile in broad daylight!

I love my little blue lantern and blue mason jars.

Yes, those are bolts. The very same bolts I spent an afternoon taking pictures of because Donna told me to practice taking pictures of bolts! I've still got alot to learn about photography.

You know Donna has a gate over her bed.

Donna, you won't believe this, but I actually bought these numbers from Miss Mustard Seed.

Donna is all about typography.

And I bought these hinges from a guy at a barn sale. That little voice in my head said, "Donna would buy them." He ended up just giving them to me, even better!

We all know that Donna loves her Coke crates.

And tools. Really big, powerfull tools.

And meat grinders. Yes, meat grinders! Donna's meat grinder is much bigger!

And big rusty gears.

Who knew those things were so heavy? No wonder Donna is so strong!

Donna softens the look of all the rust with greenery. Hmmm, I wonder if her plants are real.

I've learned about all sorts of power tools from Donna. Some of them still scare me. But I actually got power tools for Christmas this year.

I've learned that it's ok to sneak out after dark and raid your neighbors trash. It's even better if they have a dumpster! Donna doesn't actually sneak or wait until dark, but hey, I'm still a beginner.

And now that I have my own blog, I really appreciate all the blog tips that Donna shares.

But the most important thing I've learned from Donna is to embrace your own personal style and own it! Believe me, she does!

Thanks so much Donna! I love your funky junk style!

Fabulous! I was nodding my head throughout your entire post! You've really got that layered thing down pat too! I LOVE me some layers and layers of fabulous texture. :)

And you are so right about metal being heavy. It's pretty incredible! I'd have more in my house if it weren't so heavy! And that ladder thing to the right totally would have me turning into a thief in broad daylight if I came for a visit!

Extremely well done, Sharon!
