Beautiful Handmade Cards

We're just a week away from our spring tag sale and we're busy with last minute details. We have lots of new furniture and fabulous finds. It's all coming together and I'll have a preview to share soon. But today I wanted to share the talents of one of our vendors, Yvonne Zeminski of Elegant Inkz.

We're really excited to have Yvonne's beautiful handmade cards at Elizabeth & Co. and they are already a hit with our customers!

Yvonne came by to set up her cards this week and I just had to take a few quick pictures!

You really have to see the cards in person to appreciate the details inside and out. Yvonne hand cuts everything, makes most of her own templates and traces by hand. She rarely use die-cuts.

The graduation cards are made from old bank file folders!

Each card is a really little piece of art!

Yvonne says the greatest compliment is when someone tells her that they save every card she sends them!

And of course there is a story about how Yvonne got started making handmade cards.  She was out shopping one day and got stranded at a local shop in the middle of a thunderstorm. While waiting for the storm to pass, she asked the owner of the shop about a new line of products. She got a quick demo on how to ink a rubber stamp, make the impression and use embossing powder to create a raised ink effect like engraving. Yvonne was totally intrigued by the process and made a small purchase. Then she went home and started to play. ... Yvonne had discovered her passion!

Yvonne is a banker by day and an artist by night. I just had to ask about her workspace and Yvonne agreed to share a few photos. She has a corner carved out in her basement for her projects and she describes her stamping room as a space where a real woman creates. Don't you just love it!

Yvonne describes stamping as a beautiful way to express art.
And when you see her beautiful cards, you will certainly agree!

Come see Yvonne's handmade cards next week ...

May Garden Party

Happy May Day!

May Day is a celebration of spring, flowers and renewal.
So of course we should have a party!

Last year we hosted a monthly garden party from May through September. It was so much fun, I thought we should do it again! A new party will begin on the first of each month and you are welcome to visit and link up as often as you like. Any garden or outdoor related project is welcome, including ways to bring the beauty of nature indoors and recipes using your garden bounty. Even if your garden space is limited to herbs on your windowsill or a pot by the front door, feel free to share!

Don't you just love playing in the dirt?
There is just something very hopeful and optimistic about planting a garden.

Daffodils, tulips and flowering trees are taking center stage here in Maryland right now. But this is just the beginning and I know an explosion of color is right around the corner. Here's a little peek at what's been happening in my garden so far .....

And this year, I'm looking forward to having a little garden helper.
I'm pretty sure she's going to love playing in the dirt too!

Now let's celebrate May Day and have a garden party!

Elizabeth and Co.

*Link up any outdoor/garden related project you'd like to share - what's growing in your yard or garden, patio gardens, landscaping ideas, outdoor related craft projects, garden furniture and décor, bringing the outdoors in, garden fresh recipes and of course we love pretty porches and patios too!

*A link back would be appreciated, especially if you'd like to be considered for a feature.

*Link up as often as you like throughout the month!

Can't wait to see what's happening in your outdoor world!
