She came from an estate sale and has been hiding out in my garage for quite a while now.
Have you noticed all the brass hardware out there right now? I'm a little surprised, but I'm kind of loving it. A good scrubbing does the trick. You don't want it perfect, just good and clean!
Yes, I'm still painting inside ...
and still making my own chalk paint. This time I used a pretty pink oops paint. At $7.00 a gallon, it was a steal!
I still started with a light sanding, but no need for primer. And believe me, this was a pretty slick surface. But the homemade chalk paint worked beautifully. Two quick coats and I finished up with a coat of S.C. Johnson wax. I just starting using this wax and it's really growing on me. My friend Cassie suggested I give it a try, so you know it's been tested thoroughly. For the longest time I couldn't even find it. Then I discovered that at Home Depot it's in the cleaning supply aisle. The Minwax that I usually use is in the paint aisle. Just thought you'd want to know.
And here she is all sweet and curvy!
Check out that funny little pull-out shelf. One tiny knob was broken off so I just removed the other one. Did you even notice it in the before picture? I just didn't think the knobs really added anything and I doubt anyone would find the shelf useful, but it's there just in case.
I really loved working on this one. And I think she'd be much happier in a little girl's room than she was collecting dust in the back of my garage!

ReplyDeleteOh I love those curves! Glad to hear you like the DIY chalk paint as well. It's such a money saver with the same great results. I JUST bought the Johnson's paste wax yesterday to try. It seems a lot creamier than the minwax- can't wait to try it now that you have give it a good review.

ReplyDeleteI am a french freak anyway and it is darling- the pull out shelf is for books and to hold your beverage-some darling mini crystal knobs back on the shelf would add sparkle and personality-those french provencial chest's are adorable enjoy
