Blue & Green Nightstand

I picked up this little nightstand at a yard sale for $5.00. It was solid maple and in very good condition. It just looked a little dated.

A fresh coat of blue took care of that! I think you can use brighter shades on small pieces for a nice pop of color. I followed up with a light distressing, a coat of white glaze and a top coat of wax . You can read more about glazing and waxing here.

I found this pretty green knob in my stash.

And this piece of scrapbook paper in the perfect combination of the blue and green.

So I used Mod Podge to line the drawer with the paper. This is super easy. First, cut your paper to size. Then spread a layer of Mod Podge (matte finish) in the bottom of a drawer with a foam brush. Position your paper in the drawer and gently smooth out any air bubbles. Wait a few hours for it to dry completely, then spread a layer of Mod Podge over the top of the paper to seal it. I think a lined drawer is fun, and in this case, tied the blue and green together nicely.

Not bad for a $5.00 find!
