Be Inspired Features and Link Party #58

Happy Tuesday! Welcome back for features and party day!

It's a little crazy around here this morning. We're FINALLY getting new carpet installed upstairs today. That meant a whole lot of packing up yesterday. Our bathrooms are jam packed with stuff and I made more trips up and down the stairs than I could possibly count. Whew! I sure hope I made a good decision and love it for many years to come! ... So while the guys are upstairs banging away, let's check out some of the awesome features from last week's party .....

I am totally in love with this dresser transformation with a cross stitch design from Dear Emmeline - so pretty!

This beautiful hutch and table comes to us from Mimi at Blue Roof Cabin. Mimi named him Frankenstein because he was made from recycled bits and pieces. Pretty awesome, right?

This mid-century modern piece from Deb at Twice Nice already had form and function. Now it has beauty too!

I love the brass details on this newly sophisticated bar cart from Deborah at Confessions of a Craigslist Junkie!

We are regularly wowed by the mad painting skills from Lake Girl Paints. This time around, Deb shared an easy to follow tutorial for jute rope handles that are just so darn cute!

If a perfect patina is what you are looking for, check out Suzan's tricks of the trade over at Simply Vintageous!

And proof positive that you can upcycle almost anything. We all love Command Hooks, right? They really come in handy for hanging things at our tag sales. We try to be very respectful of the old walls of our sweet house. The problem is that they don't always look that great with our vintage stuff.

Well Kadee Willow came up with an inspired solution to our problem! ... Yes, details count!

Coconut Sugar Cookies

Coconut Sugar Cookies are one of my all-time favorites and I get requests for this recipe all the time. My friend Stephanie said it was time I shared the recipe on the blog, so here you go.

These cookies are thin, crispy and buttery. They pretty much melt in your mouth. And if you love coconut half as much as I do, then you will definitely love them too. And they are super easy to make, always an added bonus!

Coconut Sugar Cookies

2 cups sugar
2 cups butter, softened
1 cup flaked coconut
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
extra sugar

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat 2 cups sugar, the butter, coconut and vanilla in large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt.

Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls. Place 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Press the bottom of a smooth glass into the cookie dough to grease, then dip in extra sugar and press on dough balls to flatten slightly. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges begin to turn golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet and cool on wire rack. Makes about 8 dozen cookies. ... And no mistake, this recipe does not contain eggs. ... Enjoy!

Be Inspired Features and Link Party #57

Happy Tuesday! Welcome back for features and party day!

Last week we had our biggest party yet! It's so much much fun to see what you've all been up to. Now here are just a few of the awesome links that caught my eye...

Sharon from Lilikoi Joy shared a nicely detailed tutorial on how to take a plain door mirror and turn it into something amazing!

Check out the great curves, cool stripes and cute bun feet on this sophisticated bookcase from Leslie at City Girl Arts!

Melissa from Daisy Mae Belle and her daughter Daisy worked together to create this bright and cheery bedroom makeover.

Daisy describes her style as "Vintagey Cute"! What 13 year old girl wouldn't love this room? Gosh, I would love this room!

This beautiful shabby chic highboy comes to us from Shades of Blue Interiors!

And the second time was a charm on this beautiful transformation from Susan at Uniquely Yours Or Mine!

Love the bright pop of color on this handmade sign from Deb at Lake Girl Paints!
And two of my favorite flavors are lemon and coconut, so this Lemon Coconut Sugar Scrub from Cheap and Wise sounds pretty perfect to me!

Thanks so much to everyone who linked up and linked back!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today was my favorite kind of winter day! We got just enough snow overnight to make everything pretty and white, while brilliant sunshine came streaming in through the windows.
Over the holidays, my friend (and faithful blog reader) Stephanie said that I need to share more pictures of my mantel throughout the year. I'm going to try to remember that!
So with the sun shining today, I thought I'd grab the camera and share a few quick pictures of my Valentine's mantel.
I kept it simple with a combination of red for Valentine's Day, green to remind me that spring is right around the corner and lots of silver because it's always pretty!

I love the flicker of candlelight in mercury glass!

I learned how to make the heart pipe cleaner garland from my friend Cassie over at Primitive & Proper.
I made this wreath a few years ago and bring it out again from time to time. It is really big, with four layers of rolled sheet music. It took forever to make. My new version of a ruffled sheet music wreath is much faster to make!

I love when my husband brings me tulips for Valentine's Day! We just celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary and I get a rose for every year we've been married (let me tell you, 34 is a lot of roses), so I really don't need more roses on Valentine's Day.

Not only do I love this message, but I bought it on a shopping adventure with my dear friend Renae. She bought one too. Now it will always remind me of her!

You'll find stacks of old books all over my house.
The typewriter was found in the basement of my husband's office. We claimed it a few years ago for Megan's wedding.
I love to type little messages on it!

The tickets are just fun and whimsical!

The bunny weathervane was a summer clearence find at Target a few year's ago.
I think he just looks good all year round!
And what would Valentine's Day be without a sweet treat? My friend Stephanie also told me that I need to share this recipe on the blog. That's coming up next time!
Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day spent with the people you love!
And if you haven't already entered,
we have a Ramsign Giveaway going on for a few more days!
