When the mood strikes ... paint!

So this morning I was standing at my kitchen counter making a list before heading off to the grocery store.

As I was pondering what I wanted to make for dinner over the next few nights, I happened to look up at the chandelier hanging over my kitchen table. My first thought was, "Gosh I love those little shades!"

Megan and I found them on the sale table (Yay!) at Anthropologie a few months ago. There were exactly six left - a sign for sure that I needed them. I love the bright green and the little bees and butterflies have a fresh botanical feel.

Then my second thought was, "I am so tired of that chandelier!"

It has all the colors that I'm trying to phase out of my life - dark greens, golds and reds. I am so ready for a fresh look!

So the next thing I know I'm looking for green paint, in a bright fresh shade. I didn't have exactly what I wanted, so I just started mixing colors together. I wasn't even dressed for painting, but I was not stopping to change. And if you've seen me paint, you know that is dangerous!

I sat right on the kitchen table and just started painting, no plan, just paint. And believe it or not, I am not wearing any paint and my chandelier looks sooo much cuter!

It's not finished yet. I want to add some more color, maybe a little glaze. I'll need to play with it a little more.

But I already love it!

Sometimes you just have to act when the mood strikes.

Okay, now I'm off to the grocery store. I'm hoping there's no paint in my hair!

Andrew's Chair

If you've been following along, you know all about Karla's garage full of chairs. This one came from a friend. Karla has lots of friends with furniture to spare - lucky girl!

And since Andrew's name is carved on the bottom, this one is affectionately know as Andrew's chair!

And here is Andrew's chair with a fresh new look.

Karla went with black paint and a bold graphic pattern.

She used the old fabric as a template, but overlapped the edges and gave it a more upholstered feel. Several layers of batting make it much more comfortable now.

Wrapping the fabric to create smooth lines around the spindles that connect to the seat was a little tricky, but she worked it out.

I think it looks fabulous!

I bet Andrew wouldn't even recognize his chair now!

Karla has been in a chair painting frenzy ever since I posted the pictures of her garage. So stay tuned, there are still more chairs to come...

Be Inspired Features and Link Party #12

Happy Tuesday! Welcome back for features and party day!

Gosh, so many amazing links again this week. You sure make it hard to choose features. Here are just a few of the inspired projects that caught my eye ...

This beautiful grey and white hutch comes from Theresa at Momma T's Place. I love that she replaced the glass with chicken wire. And I know you want to see the rest of this room, right?

Absolutely gorgeous!

And now for some big bold colors from a few of my furniture painting friends..... Chrissie from Chrissie's Collections shared some fabulous red projects. Why have I never used red?

And Chrissie always makes the inside of her projects just as beautiful as the outside. (I can not explain this pesky underline that keeps popping up in my posts!)

Then Julia at 551 East experimented until she found the perfect shade of orange - oh yum!

And why do I never choose black? Check out this beauty from Cassie at Primitive and Proper. This desk was an amazing Goodwill find. It has been a very long time since I've found anything this good at a Goodwill and it was a steal to boot!

This storybook bureau comes from Ruth's Farm and Furniture. Analisa decoupaged pages from a vintage copy of Jack and the Beanstalk to the drawers.

How sweet is that!

And speaking of sweet, Sayuri from Vintage Breeze shared this pretty pink collection. It was picked up by a customer who was shopping for a TV movie called Taken Back. We'll have to be on the lookout for that! Sayuri's furniture could be famous!

And speaking of famous, Karen from Redoux is featured in the April issue of Country Living! I totally love the rustic feel of Karen's wood pallet plant hanger! Way to go girl!

Thanks to everyone who linked up and linked back! If you've been featured, feel free to grab a cute little button from the sidebar!
