Playing With Chenille

I picked up this chenille bedspread at a yard sale back in the fall. It had a few thin spots, but was in pretty good condition. I think I only paid $2.00 for it. I just loved the blue and white. My thought was to use it in some crafty way.

When my daughter was home over the holidays, we were looking though my stash of stuff and she immediately loved it too. So I told her she could do whatever she wanted with it. Right away she knew she wanted to make some rosettes in blue and white. She does make the best rosettes. Then she cut some strips of the fun white dots and wrapped them around foam forms and created a few wreaths. Super cute and so simple!

Don't you love the rosettes?

Megan loves garlands and bunting. We made the longest one ever for her wedding!

Fortunately, this one was much faster to make. Megan cut off a strip of chenille with the scalloped edge. Then she hand stitched a thread through the top of it and pulled slightly to create a bit of a gather. Then I machine stitched a matching blue seam binding along the top edge to finish it off.

How cute would this look in a baby boy's room?

Just a few fun little projects we worked on together. The best part was just hanging out having a craft day! And there's still plenty of chenille left for a few more projects.

  19. The wreath is so cute! Very creative. You all got a lot a mileage from that bedspread! I love garlands, too. For my son's bon voyage party to the Navy, his girlfriend and I made miles of bunting from thrifted red and blue clothing to run along the fence. Thanks for visiting House Revivals -- I am following you back. Love your blog, can't believe I hadn't found it before!
